Animating

About a month ago, I started learning how to animate. The animation teacher comes every alternate Saturday. When we started classes, the instructor told us to get a  "Wacom." A wacom is connected to your computer and its like a sketch pad. It helps with animation because before the wacom was invented,  people drew all of their characters  on a device called a lightbox.

This is my Wacom :)...
This is a light box.

On our first class, we learned the basics like who created the first animated movie and how they did it. the instructor even showed us videos and movie previews... He said... "animation is the only subject that requires you to watch movies."
That sounds awesome doesn't it? Anyway, by the end of the class, the animation teacher told us to watch The Little     Mermaid or any
other old Animated movie like, Lion King,Mickey Mouse, etc.

The next time he came, we had our Wacom ready. He installed it for us .. and that day he showed us some of the Principles of Animation.  He even showed us how different principles were used in animation, by showing the way a ball bounces, and the way it comes to a stop when it's been rolled. He told us to watch Despicable Me and Despicable Me 2 whenever we got free time.
Those movies are hilarious you have to watch it, if you haven't already :).

,
This is the first painting I did on my Wacom..

Just last week, we learned one point perspective. It's quite cool, the way everything moves toward that one point. He then showed us some examples of one point and two  point perspective. He said "You usually see things in two point perspective." next time we'll be learning that. Then after that I think it'll be three point perspective. I found three point perspective really confusing. It's got three vanishing points and two different ways of viewing it. The Bird's eye's view and the Worm's eye view. At the end of the session he gave me H.W. - Draw 5 pages of the one point perspective.
One Point Perspective

I hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it :)

Art

For the past month and half  I have been taking art classes. Just like the music teacher, the art teacher comes home to teach us. Its takes lots of hard work but I am all always amazed by the things I create.

The first class was lots of fun the art teacher told us to draw whatever we wanted!I chose Oil pastels and Seth chose paints. By the end of the class I was happy. The art teacher had given us some homework. She told us to draw straight lines with our left and right hand on  a piece of paper. This seemed easy enough! The second class was stunned me.. The Art Teacher  taught us how to paint a landscape using water paints! It came out really well.So well that, by then end of the class I was shocked I had done that! The third class we had origami .We were making jumping frogs... It was tricky for my brother but not so much for me. When we finally got the frogs. We had loads of fun. We  even made a frog army.

After that it got slightly tougher, the art teacher had  been piling on the homework. There was so much homework that I thought, she was trying to graduate us as Art students! But, then the homework  kinda reduced and it became better. Just two weeks ago, The art teacher taught us             how to paint a painting in first perspective. It looked pretty cool! Even though  I find art tough I know it's just because I haven't learnt the basics yet, just like in Music.

We've even been working on a project a major project   for Halloween. We were doing a wallpaper in my room (Seth's too). even though Halloween's gone by I think It'll be fun to have it up. It looks really cool in the dark. ( Photo will be uploaded when we finish it ;) . )

Fun with Football

Hello! Cade here.... I'm sorry I haven't posted anything new for a while , I was .... preoccupied. Anyway, you must be wondering what I've posted  today... Well I thought I'd write about something that recently happened... I've decided to write about my little adventure to the JP Nagar Sports Association ground ( Note: Football, Cricket, Kungfu and "Tike-Won-Do" are practiced and/or played on this field).

It all started at around  4:00 when Seth's best friend, Raghav,  came down with his younger sister,Samudra to play with Seth. The power was out and it was pretty humid at home. At around 5:45  when the power came back... We had decided to take a drive to the ground. This happened spontaneously and no one was prepared.

When we reached the ground,  Raghav and my brother ran off to play. It was getting a bit dark, but I noticed that there were some children about my age playing football..... Now, do you ever get that feeling where you want to go and ask someone  something but you'll be embarrassed that they'll say no? That happens to me a lot.. I think it's because I don't really mix with many kids... Anyway, after I saw them, Dad told me that I  should go and ask them If I could come and play too.. However, I didn't do it. So, dad went and asked them if He and I could join in.. Raghav and Seth joined too. When we started playing..we got separated from Raghav as he was chosen into a different team. The game began and we played for an hour.

In the beginning, my gut started hurting a lot  because I hadn't exercised like that in a few months! By the middle of the game,I started  feeling a little better, but I felt tired running so much. Our team had scored 2  goals and the opposing team had managed to get 1 goal in by themselves and 1 goal in  because of  Seth. Seth accidentally did this. He kind of lost control of the ball and kicked it into our goal. When the game had finished and once the winner was declared... we warmed down. Dad asked one boy whether they came there everyday.. they replied that they did do so and that they usually arrived at 5:30 pm. Mom and Dad then took us to a restaurant to eat. However I wasn't all that hungry so I didn't eat dinner that night. That night, I felt really tired ... but for some reason I didn't sleep too well.

Musical Me

Hi, My name is Cade Manuel . I am 14years old and I'm in 7th grade. I started this blog to improve my writing skills. I will be writing a different blog  everyday and posting it.

Today I'll be elucidating about one of my favorite hobbies,  playing the guitar. My parents had found an instructor who came home to teach us. At first, I didn't like it.  My fingers kept hurting and the instructor made me play a chromatic exercise for two whole hours, every week,  even though I got bored playing it.

Two weeks later, after I got used to playing the exercise he moved me to the C major scale. Now I'm sure that sounds pretty exciting until you hear that that's one of maybe hundreds of scales! A week later he taught me how to play the same scale in a different pattern, a new chromatic exercise and the tune of   "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star"  which took a while to learn. On that same day, he told me I had to start playing the guitar using the alternating picks.

The next day,  during guitar practice ( Note: Instructor only comes once a week) I slowly started gaining interest and becoming more excited of what I could do on the guitar. That week I practiced so much that the skin on my finger tips started hardening. By the time the tutor came back the next week, I was super excited and prepared for the class.

That day, he showed me the formula for creating "Major Scales."  He also showed me that there was a finger pattern that you had to follow when creating a scale. He then drew the  Circle of Fifths in my Music notebook. He said that the Circle of Fifths helped  you remember all the twelve scales and how many sharps each one of them had. Once he had left, my head was buzzing.  He said I had to remember the Circle of fifths by Friday. I had three days, however, it was a little to tough.

On the day he arrived, I was practicing really hard to remember the scales and the Circle of fifths, when he just told me to play this new pattern on the G major Scale.  I can play that pattern quite well... until you ask me to play it backwards, no that's where I goof up! That week he also taught me how to play a bit of the Fur Elise.  Well after that I have been practicing pretty hard, I practice whenever I get some free time.

Just last week he taught me a cool broken chord that sounded a lot like tunes they use in Caribbean music. He told me we'd be doing Minor scales next week and I was super excited! New scales yipe!

Yesterday he taught me the The Minor Scales and their relatives! My brother says they sound "piratey" and that they sound like they are from the Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Song. I agree with him! Nowadays, I don't struggle with those measly chromatics. No. Nowadays, I find the newer stuff complicated, but I know that the feeling is only there because I don't know that particular scale or exercise that well.

This is Cade Manuel signing off .....
